Vanessa Mastin brings more than 20 years of experience in finance, accounting, business operations, and tech, helping organizations strengthen financial infrastructure and improve decision-making. Her background spans financial leadership, accounting operations, forecasting, process improvement, and executive advisory, with experience supporting organizations through periods of growth, operational change, and increasing complexity. She is passionate about helping leadership teams gain greater visibility into their financial performance and build scalable processes that support long-term success.

Before joining Bright Balance as a CFO Advisor, Vanessa founded Cypress Consulting Group, where she served as a fractional CFO to growing businesses across multiple industries. She partnered closely with owners and executive teams to improve financial reporting, cash flow forecasting, budgeting, accounting operations, internal controls, and strategic planning. Her practical, hands-on approach combines technical accounting expertise with an operational mindset, allowing her to help clients solve problems beyond the numbers.

Vanessa earned her MBA with Honors from Texas State University, with concentrations in Entrepreneurship and International Business. She also holds a BS in Biology/Pre-med from Davidson College and is a Certified Product Manager (CPM) and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.

Originally from Austin, Texas, Vanessa now calls Charleston, South Carolina home with her husband, their two children, two dogs, two veiled chameleons, and two aquatic frogs. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, exploring different cultures, tackling home improvement projects, and spending time with her family.
